#GoogleMaps Mishap: Car Plunges into River in Kerala 🚗🌊

In a bizarre incident, Abdul Rashid and Tashreef from Kasaragod, Kerala, found themselves in a perilous situation early Sunday morning. The duo set off at 6 AM to a nearby hospital in Karnataka, relying on Google Maps for directions. However, their journey took a dangerous turn when their car plunged into a river adjacent to Pallanji Forest Road in Kasaragod.

The car got stuck in the river, which had strong currents, but fortunately, the vehicle was halted by a tree. The two men immediately informed the fire brigade, who promptly arrived and rescued them. Videos of the incident have since gone viral on social media. The young men recounted how Google Maps led them through a narrow path, and in the dim headlight glow, they mistook the water ahead for a bridge.

They explained that the bridge lacked visible sidewalls, and with water on both sides and darkness all around, they couldn't identify the danger. Their car suddenly got swept into the river, but they managed to escape by holding onto tree branches after lowering the car windows. After notifying their relatives about the accident, the fire brigade was contacted and arrived at the scene with ropes to safely rescue them. Rashid described the ordeal as a rebirth, expressing disbelief that they survived.

A new higher bridge was constructed 500 meters away from the accident site four years ago. However, Google Maps still directs users through the old bridge route, leading to such accidents. This isn't the first such incident in Kerala. Last month, a tourist group from Hyderabad faced a similar fate when their car was swept away near Kuruppanthara, Kottayam, due to following Google Maps. They were rescued by a nearby police patrol unit, although their vehicle was lost to the waters.
