GhilliShattersRecords: Movie Smashes Mahesh & Pawan's Box Office Marks!

In an era where re-releases are gaining momentum, classic hits are making their way back to theaters, drawing impressive crowds and collections. Among these, the Tamil blockbuster 'Ghilli,' starring Thalapathy Vijay, made a grand comeback on April 20, nearly 20 years after its initial release. Surprisingly, on its opening day, the movie set a national record by grossing approximately ₹10 crores, a figure unprecedented for re-releases.

Previously, Telugu films like 'Khushi' and 'Businessman' had garnered up to ₹4 crores on their opening day during re-releases last year. However, 'Ghilli' not only surpassed these figures but set a new benchmark, proving Vijay's enduring popularity. Initially released on April 17, 2004, 'Ghilli' features Vijay and Trisha in lead roles and is a remake of the Telugu hit 'Okkadu,' starring Mahesh Babu. The film's re-release has reignited excitement, showcasing the lasting appeal of this cinematic gem.
