The advent of online delivery services has transformed our lifestyles, and now, the process has taken a futuristic leap. Drone deliveries have started in India, with couriers and food being delivered right to your doorstep by drones. Blue Dart, a renowned courier and express package distribution company in Asia, has launched advanced drone delivery services in Mumbai. Blue Dart’s Managing Director Balfour Manuel mentioned that this new method significantly increases the speed of deliveries and brings additional benefits.
About five years ago, a Tollywood movie showcased the concept of delivering medicines via drones. The 2019 movie "Yuddham Sharanam," starring Naga Chaitanya, featured a protagonist who creates drones to deliver medicine, saving a patient's life in a critical situation. Although audiences enjoyed this idea in theaters, many thought it would take years for such technology to come to India. Proving them wrong, the drone delivery system has now become a reality in the online delivery process.
Previously, the Telangana government successfully conducted pilot trials for delivering medicines via drones. In September 2021, the government ran successful trials in Vikarabad, Telangana. Now, Blue Dart, in collaboration with drone technology company Skye Air, has initiated drone deliveries, offering transparent and efficient services to customers.
As the e-commerce sector continues to grow, this innovative drone technology will enable same-day deliveries. Blue Dart highlighted that drone deliveries save time and reduce environmental impact. Balfour Manuel, Blue Dart's Managing Director, emphasized that India's logistics sector is advancing rapidly, driven by strong economic growth, customer expectations, and development in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, significantly enhancing the purchasing power of people.
