Counting Day Approaches for Lok Sabha and State Elections

The much-anticipated counting process for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and two state assembly elections is set to begin tomorrow (Tuesday). The entire nation is eagerly awaiting the results, and preparations for the counting have been completed. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has made a significant announcement regarding this process. Today (Monday), the ECI will hold a media briefing to discuss the details of the counting process. This briefing, scheduled for June 3, is a first in the history of the ECI, as it typically conducts media briefings after each phase of polling through the Deputy Election Commissioners.

The briefing comes ahead of the counting day for Andhra Pradesh, Odisha Assembly elections, and the 543 Lok Sabha seats, all set to take place tomorrow starting at 8 AM. The ECI has already issued crucial guidelines for the counting, including the procedures for counting postal ballots. Detailed instructions have been provided for handling EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines), VVPATs (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail), and postal ballots.
