Comedian Karthik Kumar has filed a defamation case against his ex-wife, singer Suchitra, after she claimed in a YouTube interview that he is gay. Kumar has demanded ₹1 crore in damages for the harm to his reputation.
On May 16, Kumar's lawyer sent a legal notice to Suchitra. During the interview, Suchitra also mentioned suspicions about Karthik’s relationship with actor Dhanush during the filming of "Mohini." The Madras High Court heard the case on May 24 and issued an interim injunction preventing Suchitra from making further comments about Karthik. The next hearing is scheduled for July 1.
Karthik responded to Suchitra’s allegations with an Instagram video stating, "If I were gay, I would have no shame in admitting it."
