Hey students and parents! There’s an important update for you all. The Telangana School Education Department has made a crucial decision to change the timings of government schools. Schools will reopen on June 12th after the summer holidays, and here's what's new:
New Timings
Primary and Upper Primary Schools: Will now start at 9 AM.
High Schools: Will continue to start at 9:30 AM but may see changes soon.
This change reverts the primary school start time back to 9 AM, as it was in the 2022-23 academic year. Last year, schools opened at 9:30 AM, but this led to some issues.
Why the Change?
Burra Venkatesham, the Principal Secretary of the Education Department, explained the reasons behind this decision:
Comparison with Private Schools: Private school students leave for school as early as 8 AM. The government wants to avoid a situation where parents feel that government schools are less disciplined because they start later.
Parent Perception: The change aims to improve the perception of government schools among parents, making them feel that these schools are as dedicated and rigorous as private ones.
Potential Changes for High Schools
For high schools, the current schedule is from 9:30 AM to 4:45 PM. However, the Education Department is considering changes due to concerns about:
Weather Conditions: During the monsoon and winter seasons, students, especially girls, face difficulties returning home late in the evening.
Safety Concerns: Ensuring student safety while traveling back home in the late hours is a priority.
