Assembly Sessions in Andhra Pradesh: Will Jagan Attend?

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly sessions are set to take place on June 21 and 22 for two days. The new schedule was released recently. Initially, it was planned to hold the new legislative assembly sessions from June 24 to 26 for three days. However, due to the concurrent Parliament sessions and the Lok Sabha Speaker election, the schedule was adjusted. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) plays a crucial role in the NDA government at the center. Hence, the assembly sessions were rescheduled to focus on the swearing-in of MLAs and the Speaker election within two days.

An interesting update emerged amidst these assembly sessions. There was suspense about whether Jagan would attend the assembly or not. However, reliable sources indicate that Jagan is likely to attend the assembly sessions. It is said that Jagan, along with ten MLAs, has decided to participate in these sessions. This decision is expected to make the assembly sessions more lively.

Jagan’s decision to attend the assembly as a regular member rather than as a Chief Minister is seen as a positive change. The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is prepared for any scenario, emphasizing the importance of discussing public issues wherever they are. However, since the sessions are only for the swearing-in of members and the Speaker's election, there will be no discussions.

Interestingly, Jagan has postponed his Pulivendula tour to attend the assembly sessions. He had planned a three-day tour of his constituency, assuming the sessions would be from June 24. With the new schedule, he canceled his tour to attend the sessions.

It is also speculated that senior MLA and former minister Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu will be elected as the Speaker. Additionally, there might be a Deputy Speaker election. This assembly session will see Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan as the Deputy Chief Minister, and Jagan as the leader of the opposition.
