AmitShah on Reservations in the Constitution: Clarification on False Claims

In an exclusive interview with TV9, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed crucial points regarding the ongoing general elections, which have reached their final phase. Out of the seven phases of elections, six have been completed, with the seventh and final phase scheduled for June 1. Amit Shah made significant remarks during this interview, asserting that the BJP has already crossed 400 seats. He predicted that Congress would secure only 40 seats, a fact he claimed Rahul Gandhi is aware of.

Key Points from Amit Shah's Interview

Amit Shah vehemently denied the false propaganda about changing the Constitution if BJP wins over 400 seats. He highlighted that the Indian people had already given power to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. Shah mocked those making these allegations, stating that they do not understand the process of amending the Constitution.

During the interview, Shah covered several key issues, including Muslim reservations, the six phases of voting, and the BJP crossing the 400-seat mark. He also discussed a range of topics from Kejriwal to Kashmir, providing concise responses.

Clarification on Reservations

Addressing the topic of reservations, Amit Shah emphasized that the Constitution does not allow reservations based on religion. He clarified that the BJP's stance is only to remove special reservations for Muslims while maintaining reservations for backward Muslims as they currently exist. Shah pointed out that similar actions were taken in Bengal and Karnataka. He assured that as long as there is even one BJP MP, there will be no changes to the Constitution to allow religious reservations.
