Amarnath Yatra Tight Security with Mock Drills at Base Camp 🛡️

The central government is ensuring tight security for the Amarnath Yatra starting on June 29. Recently, a tourist bus was targeted by terrorists in Reasi, leading to heightened security measures this year. A mock drill was conducted at the base camp in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, involving the Jammu and Kashmir police, army soldiers, and special operations groups. This drill focused on responding to potential terrorist attacks on pilgrims. The recent terrorist attack in Reasi resulted in the death of nine tourists, prompting these enhanced security measures.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a high-level review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, ordering stringent security for the Amarnath Yatra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also visit Jammu and Kashmir on June 20, participating in Yoga Day celebrations in Srinagar on June 21 and a youth summit. His two-day visit marks his first to the region since his third term began, emphasizing the importance of this tour, especially with the upcoming assembly elections.

The Amarnath Yatra will last for 45 days, with all necessary measures being taken to ensure a smooth pilgrimage for the devotees. The Prime Minister's visit is significant, potentially raising the political heat in the state ahead of the elections.
