Kannada actor Darshan, who is currently an undertrial in the Renukaswamy murder case, was being held at Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bengaluru. Along with Darshan, several other accused are also in judicial custody. Recently, allegations surfaced claiming that Darshan was receiving VIP treatment in jail, with photos and videos making rounds on social media.
One such photo showed Darshan enjoying tea and smoking a cigarette with rowdy-sheeters inside the prison. Another video allegedly showed him making a video call from within the jail, which is strictly against the rules. Following these revelations, authorities conducted an investigation and took action by suspending the Chief Superintendent of the jail along with nine other officials.
The police commissioner, B. Dayanand, stated that three cases have been registered against Darshan for the special privileges he received in jail. Consequently, Darshan was transferred from Parappana Agrahara Jail to Ballari Jail. Other accused in the case were also relocated to different jails across Karnataka to prevent any further incidents.
