9th Grader Steals Mother's Jewelry for Girlfriend's iPhone Gift

A shocking incident in Delhi has left both police and a family stunned after a 9th-grade student stole his mother's gold jewelry to buy an iPhone for his girlfriend. This tale of young love and poor decision-making unfolded when the boy's mother discovered her jewelry missing and filed a police complaint.

The Incident

The 9th-grade student was determined to gift an iPhone to his girlfriend for her birthday. When his mother refused to give him the money for such an expensive gift, the student decided to steal instead. He took two gold necklaces, earrings, and a ring from his home and sold them to purchase the iPhone, valued at around ₹50,000.

Police Investigation

Upon discovering the missing jewelry, the boy's mother approached the police. Investigating officers reviewed CCTV footage and spoke to neighbors, eventually concluding that no outsider was likely involved in the theft. Suspicion naturally turned towards the woman's son, who had been missing since the theft occurred.

Interrogating the boy's friends revealed the truth. The boy had indeed sold the gold jewelry to fund the purchase of an iPhone for his classmate, whom he wished to impress with the lavish gift. The police quickly detained the boy on Wednesday following this revelation.

Family Background

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), Ankit Singh, the boy's father had recently passed away due to illness. The boy reportedly showed little interest in his studies, often scoring poorly in exams. His lack of focus on education and recent grief may have contributed to his reckless behavior. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Conclusion

This incident highlights the risks of unmonitored internet exposure and peer pressure among teenagers. It also emphasizes the importance of parental guidance in a child's emotional and psychological development.
