7-Year-Old Falls into Fire Pit During Temple Festival, Video Goes Viral

A tragic incident occurred during a temple festival in Tamil Nadu, leaving a 7-year-old boy with severe injuries. The incident took place on Sunday during the Mariamman temple festivities in the village of Kattukollaimedu, near Arambakkam in Thiruvallur district.

The Incident

As part of the temple festivities, a ritual involving walking over a fire pit was conducted. Over 100 villagers participated in this ritual, walking over the hot coals as an offering to the goddess. When it was 7-year-old Monish's turn, the boy, frightened by the intense heat, hesitated and stepped back. Despite his fear, the village elders, along with another person, encouraged him to continue.

However, in a shocking turn of events, the boy lost his balance and fell directly onto the burning coals. The villagers quickly pulled him out, but not before he sustained severe burns.

Immediate Response and Viral Video

The villagers immediately rushed the injured boy to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment for his burns. The disturbing incident was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread concern and outrage.

The video has raised questions about the safety of such rituals and the responsibility of the adults who pressured the child into participating. The incident is a stark reminder of the potential dangers of traditional rituals, especially when involving young children.

Authorities have yet to comment on the incident, but the viral video has brought attention to the need for caution during such religious ceremonies.
